Talking basics today. I have been trying to buy less clothes and choose well, which also means that the pieces I do buy, should be valuable and ideally fair produced. I thought it would be the best to start with basics, such as high-quality t-shirts. Much like finding the perfect pair of jeans, finding the perfect t-shirt can be challenging. The fabric has to be good and it should not be transparent. V-neck or round neckline, long sleeves or capped sleeves and of course the cut as well as the length need to fit, which in my case -- the longer and wider, the better. They don't have to be overly thick because in the winter I wear everything under all my layers, however they also have to keep me warm in spring/summer.
In my journey to find the perfect t-shirt, I stumbled across Funktionschnitt and got my hands on a simple black t-shirt made out of Tencel. I fell in love with it immediately due to the combination of softness and fit and it helps that Tencel was made in Austria. It is a cotton substitute that is softer, more durable and air-permeable by allowing any form of humidity to evaporate, thus preventing the build-up of sweat and bacteria.
The perfect t-shirt for daily wear!
